When I was in middle school, I was treasurer of my school’s National Junior Honor Society. In order to raise funds for the club, we would sell items that correlated with certain holidays. For example, on Hanukkah we would sell gelt. On Valentines Day, we would sell heart-shaped lollipops and roses. This trend carried on throughout the school year. Even though I was very young, this club’s fundraising transformed into a small business that included coordinating with larger companies to supply us with the product. It was this position that got me interested in the field of business and made me excited to learn more about it in higher education. Although this was a non-profit, it still got me excited to one day further delve into the world of entrepreneurship. I enrolled in this class for two main reasons. To begin with, I signed up for this class because of the restricted elective requirement for graduation. In addition, I signed up because I had heard it was a good class to learn about the business world in general. While other class might teach you models and vocabulary words, this class adds on to that with real world wisdom and advice. I hope to just be introduced to the world of business and come out with a general knowledge of the way things work in the world of business by the end of this class.

Hello Max,
ReplyDeleteIt was great to read about how through the position of treasurer in your middle school’s National Junior Society you got firsthand knowledge about targeted products and how the business world works in general. I am also glad that this experience sparked an interest inside you to continue learning about business in the future. Regarding why you enrolled in this class, I do agree that this is a different class that provide a real world-like way of thinking about business opportunities and how to make the best of them. Great job!
Sincerely,
Javier Felis Perez
Hey Max,
ReplyDeleteIt's cool to see you in the same position as I was back in high school. I used to have to do the same thing and I applaud you for taking advantage oh what people celebrate! It's truly the best way to raise money. It's also cool to think that the same thing can be extended to real life, except now you're making the money for yourself! Furthermore, I like your reasoning for taking the class, I can tell you're gonna get a lot out of it.
Best regards,

Hi Max,
ReplyDeleteI think you made a great connection to the business world with your involvement in NJHS. Being able to actually experience the real aspects of the business world before making your mind up about what you want to do must have been super valuable. I also agree with you that this class would provide real world knowledge compared to other classes, and I think there is a lot to gain from it.
Best,
Reed Blevins
