Opportunity #1: Economic
A.
I found this opportunity
at Thebalance.com while searching the web.
B.
According to this
article, global warming has completely altered the food industry. Corn and
soybeans which are an essentially building block to other foods cannot grow in
higher temperatures so in anticipation of shortages, food prices are
increasing. Thus, there is an opportunity to distribute these items at raised
margins.
C.
There are two types of
potential customers, farmers who need the materials they are short on and
regular everyday people who consume foods.
D.
This opportunity seems
relatively easy to exploit because food is a need that every has and every
needs to satisfy regardless of cost.
This opportunity was not clear to be because food is a basic necessity that I did not think had large fluctuations in price.
Opportunity #2: Economic
A.
I found this opportunity
at Thebalance.com while searching the web.
B.
According to the
article, America is declining in global economic power, so there are a lot of
companies being forced into a transition to foreign economies with job
outsourcing and globalization. There is an opportunity for a business strategy
firm to specialize in the transfer of domestic companies into international
companies.
C.
The prototypical
customer is an organization that is currently US based, but plans on expanding
into foreign countries.
D.
This opportunity seems
difficult to exploit because it is easier to acquire customers when they are
individuals, not organizations.
This opportunity was relatively clear to me because I have learned in many classes how many companies are going global and setting up firms outside the US.
Opportunity #3:
Regulatory
A.
I found this opportunity
online at https://www.pwc.com/us/en/library/risk-regulatory/strategic-policy/top-policy-trends.html
B.
According to the
article, one regulatory trend is stricter regulations on data privacy. Thus,
the opportunity would be a data privacy firm, but for individuals. A lot of big
companies outsource their data protection, but the everyday person does not yet
have someone to protect their data.
C.
The prototypical
consumer is the middle-to-upper class person who has easy access to and uses
the Internet often.
D.
This opportunity seems
easy to exploit because in an age that is dominated by technology, people are
at peak concern over their data and the laws in this country are reflecting
that.
This opportunity seems clear to me because technology is constantly changing the way we live, and data privacy is just the next adaption individual tech users will need to make.
Opportunity #4:
Regulatory
A.
I found this opportunity
online at https://www.forbes.com/sites/lewiskoski/2019/09/03/americas-cannabis-industry-balancing-strong-regulation-with-businesses-desire-for-accountability/#23c5dd43ed2f
B.
According to the
article, one regulatory trend is the legalization of marijuana across states in
the US. The opportunity here is vague and general because there are many
different ways to profit. There could be a way to help police regulate usage, a
way to combine marijuana with normal activities to innovate the way daily life
is conducted, and more.
C.
The prototypical
consumer could be a local police department or the everyday marijuana user.
D.
This opportunity seems
easy to exploit because there is a large market of users as well as a multitude
of ways to profit off of a very versatile resource that is rapidly becoming
more legally available in the US.
This opportunity seems clear to me because i have been seeing on the news how the legalization of marijuana has been positively impacting the economies in states such as Illinois.
Hi Max,
ReplyDeleteI agree that global warming is something that has an adverse effect on everything around us, especially in products that cannot grow in higher temperatures. Finding a way to exploit this opportunity could be something that raises innovative entrepreneurs’ business revenues. I also agree that globalization is something that further pushes outsourcing facilitating businesses forward, which is why a company that can give US companies a smoother transition into foreign markets would be a hit in the market. I also believe that data privacy is going to be a pervasive business going forwards. Finally, I want to say that I believe you did a great job not only identifying viable opportunities but also guiding your readers point by point and letting them know which are economic and which are regulatory opportunities. Awesome job!
Sincerely,

Hey Max,
ReplyDeleteI agree with your stance in point two that it is more difficult to acquire organizations as customers than it is individuals. However, the assessment for the prototypical customer in economic trend #1 does not seem 100% possible. While the farmers who are short on materials can certainly be exploited, it would be difficult to exploit everyday people who consume food when shortages will prevent you from being able to provide a solution to their problem.

Hey Max,
ReplyDeleteI found your first article especially interesting since those two foods are staples that have been around for cheap for as long as I have been around. I definitely agree with you in that it is an easy opportunity to exploit since anyone can grow these food and take advantage of the rising prices until global warming takes its turn and increases global temperatures even further. I also agree with your stance that the changing marijuana laws is easy to exploit, except I would also imagine that medicinal users would also be a protypical consumer. Overall, you did a great job.

Hey Max,
ReplyDeleteI found the fourth article you write about to be very interesting. The cannabis industry is indeed headed in an upwards trend due to the slow and steady legalization in the United States. I agree that this opportunity is easy to exploit because it is still a new concept for Americans and its legalization has just begun. Great post!
Hi Max,
ReplyDeleteI believe your opportunity about American decline in global power is huge for upcoming, and already, major companies. They should take advantage now and look to expand to other countries as it would hold major benefits. The regulatory opportunity you explained on Marijuana is one that has been around for a while now. It started off small, but now many states have accepted weed into their society and taken advantage of it for their economies.
Best,
